Livy 10.23 (ca. late first century A.D.):


Publice uinum ac tus praebitum; supplicatum iere frequentes uiri feminaeque. Insignem supplicationem fecit certamen in sacello Pudicitiae Patriciae, quae in foro bouario est ad aedem rotundam Herculis, inter matronas ortum.


Wine and incense were provided at public expense,and crowds of men and women went to offer prayers. The occasion was remarkable because of a quarrel which broke out amongst the married women at the shrine of Patrician Chasity, which stands in the Cattle Market by the round temple of Hercules.  (B.
