LATIN DESIGNATIONS OF THE PUBLIC MONUMENTS
OF CN. POMPEIUS MAGNUS IN ROME
FROM THE FIRST CENTURY B.C. TO THE SIXTH CENTURY A.D.

Latin authors employed a variety of terms in describing the monuments of Cn. Pompeius Magnus.  Sometimes the same author within the same work chose to employ multiple terms that applied to an identical monument.  Presented under five headings you will find a complete tabulation of all Latin terms which refer to the public monuments of Cn. Pompeius Magnus.

For the purposes of this analysis, only references, apart from a few exceptions, which link Pompeius by name to a monument are included.

This criterion thus eschews, for example, multiple and inane citations of theatrum.  Also excluded from consideration are the domus and horti as well as poetic allusions.  The entries for each category are listed chronologically.
